- Allow enough arrival time for the road journey from Kualanamu. A late flight requires an additional arrival night and a revised programme.
- Forest trails can be steep, muddy and slippery. Agree trek length, fitness requirements and lodge access before confirming.
- Bukit Lawang has a rehabilitation history; some orangutans near visitor routes are habituated or formerly rehabilitated. Sightings are not guaranteed, and feeding or close contact is not part of the visit.
- Follow the guide’s wildlife distance instructions and advise the team if unwell before entering orangutan habitat. Overnight camping, rafting and tubing are outside the sample route.
